Now here's a knot to show. It's a quilted wall hanging of a Celtic Knot--specifically a Celtic Cross. My mother was looking for a sewing challenge a few years ago and found this pattern. She told me she was going to make it for me. I really like this sort of thing and she knew that. We went out and picked the fabrics to go in it.
My mother was an expert at applique, but this was a challenge for her. She liked it though, and I love it. Someone offered her quite a bit of money for it, but she said no--she had made it for me.
The original pattern didn't have the outer red border but mom added it to make it bigger for my wall. I think it frames it better than having it stop at the inner black line at the edge of the circle. It's hand appliqued and machine quilted. The quilting is stitch in the ditch. The next photo makes the pieces look wrinkled but that's from hanging and having been folded; all the pieces lie perfectly flat as they should.
I have the Amish style Quilt hanging in the spring and summer in my living room and switch out with the Celtic Knot in the fall and winter.
