Cloche

My 1920's cloche. The cloche is such a fun hat. Some come down far over the forehead so that you have to tilt your head at a slight angle upwards to see well.

If you have bobbed hair the curls peek out the bottom and sides of the hat, very 20's! I keep my hair bobbed; it's actually a little long in this sepia photo.
I have never made a hat. Make that sewn a hat; I've knitted dozens. I saw some cloche patterns for sale at The Vintage Pattern Lending Library I'm interested in. Perhaps another personal sewing challenge to add to my list.

Oh, Susan, what a beautiful hat! I draw the line at buying old hats (anywhere other than the Salvation Army that is) because I know that once I started, I'd never stop!

I agree. As nice as they are, hats take up too much room. I have four hat boxes full of hats, plus my summer sun hats.

I found this one years ago and get it out occassionally for some fun photographs.
