Spider Web Crocheted Edging

My mother used to use her sewing machine during the day and do handwork at night -- crocheting, knitting, embroidery, smocking, quilting, handsewn baby clothes --she did them all. Once she took a square of linen and crocheted a tiny spiderweb edging on it for me to have a new handkerchief.

While I have learned many of these same skills, you won't see anything I've crocheted --it would look like little knots of thread in a twisted bundle.

I love this. I have something similar that my grandmother made. I think I might have to try this as my next thing to learn.

Oh Susan...what a beautiful piece!

I also have linens with crochet edging aroung it. They are all so lovely :)

I like the way your mother used her time...I think I might begin to do this too :)

Blessings,

Maria

Sassy - Let me know if do learn how to crochet! I'll send you this pattern.

Maria - My mother used her time better than me! She made more things in her lifetime than I ever could.

That's so pretty! I've been crocheting a blanket at night while I watch tv. It's about 4 inches long right now :)
