Ooooh, Did I Just Buy Another Sewing Machine?

Forget about yesterdays' post where I said I wasn't going to buy anymore sewing machines. Three hours after it posted I was slapping $40 down on the counter at the Goodwill for this:
It wasn't my fault. The Husband went to the Goodwill, not me. He's the one who told me about the machine. He said it was a Singer 500A and was in bad shape. I said that I didn't want one in too bad shape. He explained the bad shape was that the lid had broken off. That's not bad; broken hinges are common on the 500s. He added that it was in a cabinet. I did not want another cabinet. He said I should look at it--I did. He said he would go get his truck to put it in.
I was going to ask if I could have it without the cabinet but I opened the drawers and found things like the manual, attachment box (stuffed with attachments), needles, oil can, and bobbins. The cabinet itself isn't particularly good, but not terrible either. I brought the whole thing home. This turned out good because when I pulled the drawers out of the cabinet to clean them I found a foot and some other things that had fallen out behind them and under them.
I finally have a mocha colored machine. I learned to sew on one. And this machine has something my other vintage machines don't have (except the Elna)--built in zigzag. So modern.

Wow! Very cool looking machine. Reminds me of the Jetsons. I would buy it just for the looks. Lucky you that it actually works!
