Children Paper Dolls from the 1920's

I thought for the next three or four weeks I'd show some vintage children's fashions on Fridays.  Quite some time ago I posted paper dolls my next door neighbor of years ago made with her sister as children in the 1920's.  All the dolls had been cut from magazines and catalogs.  The ones I showed before were of women -- today, here are the children.

These little girls are wearing dresses with matching bloomers peeking out the bottom.

Various dresses and coats.

The bottom three on the right are a robe and night clothes.

Miscellaneous ones.  These appear to be cut from newspaper.

A few boys.

More boys.  While the girl's and baby's fashions are still wearable today, I don't think the boy's ones are quite so much!

These appear to be girl's undergarments of the time.  I love the little bobbed hair cuts!

Lots of baby paper dolls!

Detail of some of the babies so you can see those gorgeous clothes with lace and emboidery.

I like these little romper suits.

Older girl's fashions.

These young ladies are older but not ready for adult's clothes just yet.

My neighbor and her sister cut out everything needed for the household.  I didn't photograph them, but there were oriental rugs cut out for the dolls to walk on.

This is a baby bed they cut and pieced together.  I'm having to hold it flat since it's been folded for so long.

And for all those babies they cut out baby blankets.

Some toys for the children.  Half the doll is gone -- the envelope these were in has pieces of old fallen off bits all in the bottom.
Holiday things.

All of the paper dolls above were homemade cut out ones.  These last three pictures are of some real paper dolls of the time.

There must have been two of these babies to fit in the pram.  The other one probably fit in the high chair by facing the other way.

The little girl in the top fits the outfits on either side of her.  The ones on the bottom don't go together.  That isn't actually a black eye on that one.  I looked closer at it and think it's ink.

There aren't any dolls to go with these dresses.

You can guess from all these cut outs, these girls were some serious paper doll artists and players.

Susan,

Thanks for sharing these with us! I also think that the girls' and baby's clothes can be very inspiring for todays kids fashion. The boys clothes tough, are updated. How it comes? Usually people use to thing that "men" fashion is somehow unchangeable from the 20th Century till now... I do not think so!

These are so incredibly sweet. It makes me nostalgic for a time before television and the internet.
