Nearly every time I get a cold I pull out vintage handkerchief stuff to show you. Well, I've had a doozy of a cold! This thing is finally going away. While I had it, I scanned some of my McCall Needlework Catalog from Winter 1936-37. It's oversized so I have to copy the pages in two sections. Here's the page on handkerchiefs. You could buy all the transfers and crochet patterns from the company to decorate your hankies.
Here's one of my grandmother's handkerchiefs:
A close up of the lace. Tatting is one of my favorite types of lace!
My cold wasn't one I could use little hankies with -- and certainly not little lacy concoctions.

I use mostly handkerchiefs. It shocks people. They look at me like I'm some kind of throwback from the 40's
Wonderful! I have a few hankies that belonged to my G'ma, too. Not nearly as fancy as yours, but great to have.
