Have you noticed I've shown sewing related things for the last few weeks but no actual sewing I've done? I lost my sewing mojo for awhile. I think it started with two muslins of vintage patterns that were terrible --the patterns would need more altering than I felt like at the time. Then I put an invisible zipper in a skirt...backwards. I picked it out, set it aside, and went to work in the garden.
This happens occasionally. I use the time to organize my sewing stuff, clean and oil the machines, and clean the house. But even a lapse in sewing doesn't mean I'm not doing any. A couple of weeks ago son #2 wanted the couch blanket because the morning was chilly, and I noticed with all the quilts I've made and given away - we keep a natty fleece blanket that was given to us on the couch. Time to fix that at least.
I decided something with squares and to use up the leftovers of a jellyroll. Pieces cut and squares sewn:
And some squares made and put on the design board (floor) to see how they look.
I'll have this finished just in time for hot weather.
A few garden shots for you? Purple iris with a grapevine trying to grow in the middle of them:
Fat peony buds with the usual ants on them:
The color is off in the next photo but it's wild columbine and amsonia -- which is part of the dogbane family and what we always called it.
I put some patterns aside to scan this week and one of them has caught my eye. I've picked it up and looked at it several times trying to imagine which fabrics I have might work for it. I think it might be time to get out some muslin.

Hi, I just started following. Found you while I was searching for something... 20's fashions, I think--I'm costuming a show--and decided I'd come along for the ride. I've started quilting again, to use up the tons of fabrics I have in my stash, so I enjoyed today's posting. Sometimes it's easy to get in a pattern rut. :-] Thanks for your time!
Welcome!
Beautiful colors on the quilt pieces and the flowers. I do that, too, sewing ruts.
