A 60's Style I Won't Wear (But Still Like)

Simplicity 7431 -- the tent dress.  This 60's style I won't wear!  It covers everything! -- in either a good or bad way depending on your point of view!  Yet I do like the style.  I've seen it on other people that it looks good on.  Even though I won't wear it, this pattern stays in my collection.  I can't seem to part with it.  I think it's that fourth one over from the left -- mini length, bell sleeves, in a wild print.  What's not to like? (other than it's a tent?)

I wore it in the 60s, but I couldn't wear it now. If you are skinny, and have the legs for a very short dress, it looks great. The thing a lot of people don't realise about clothes of that era is that they really do need to be very short. The hem should be no lower than those bell sleeves or it goes from mod to dowdy.

It's true 60's clothes need to be shorter -- I hemmed my first two 60's dresses at knee length and had to go back and rehem them to above the knee to get them to look right!

What a blast from the past! I had a tent dress when I was in high school. It was a pink and magenta op-art print. It must have looked like a circus tent on me since I was very skinny, weighing less than 110 lbs. I felt very self-conscious in it, but my mom had bought it for me and I had to wear it to school.
